Vallirana is a town located in Baix Llobregat. It belongs to a quiet residential area, surrounded by nature and with easy access to services and shops. In contemporary times, the construction of the N-340, known as the road to Catalonia, brought about one of the greatest changes in the history of Vallirana. In 1787, construction began on the side of the road, called Barcelona Street. In 1804 the new church was inaugurated, as the previous one was too far away from the new town centre. This led to the construction of houses around the church, giving rise to the first perpendicular street in Vallirana, and later the street of the river.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the village became a paradise for bourgeois families from Barcelona who came to spend the summer, due to the tranquillity of the village and its proximity to Barcelona. From that decade onwards, Vallirana's demographic growth accelerated due to the exodus of the population from the south of Spain. Blocks of flats began to be built and construction companies appeared, such as Interclub and Selva Negra, which were responsible for the construction of the first housing estates.
At present, the B-24 and N-340 are fast access roads to the town.
The cava fair is held during the month of June, with the intention of recovering the wine tradition in Vallirana, which has been degraded, as well as favouring trade.
